Q - Will we see dolphins?
A - About 95% of the time, we will come across one or more pods of dolphins, sometimes right along side of the boat.
(Wildlife laws do not allow the feeding of dolphins...remember, they are wild animals.)
Q - What about apparel?
A - We recommend comfortable clothing for the season. Even in the heat of the summer, late day cruises can become
chilly as the sun sets. A light sweater or wind-breaker is recommended. Soft-soled shoes are preferred.
Q - What may I bring aboard?
A - Food, snacks, beverages and sunscreen (water-based please). We ask that you refrain from bringing any type of glass container on board if possible.
Remember, we will provide beer, wine, soft drinks and bottled water with suitable cups. We do allow cigarette and pipe smoking. Under maritime law, we are a drug-free vessel.
Don't forget to bring along your camera to capture the moment of friends and family at the helm,
as well as many historical landmarks. Remember the dolphins--they love playing with sailboats!
Q - Can I participate in the operation of the boat?
A - Guests are encouraged to take the helm once we set sail. For safety purposes, we do not allow passengers to make adjustments to rigging or sail trim.
Q - Is it possible that I will get seasick?
A - Although anything is possible, it is highly improbable. Remember that a sailboat under sail has a totally different "ride" than you may have experienced on a deep-sea fishing
party boat. At the beginning of each trip, all passengers are briefed that the minute they experience any discomfort, they should notify the crew, and we will change course to find quieter water.
Q - What time should I arrive?
A - Please try to arrive 5 minutes before departure. Because of fluctuations in current and wind, we might return 15-20 minutes later than scheduled. Please notify a crew member
ahead of time if this is a conflict (ferry).
Q - Can I fish while sailing?
A - No.
Q - Is it proper to tip the crew?
A - It is customary, when you receive good service, to tip the first mate accordingly. The amount
is typically 10% of the charge. Exceptional service, of course, warrants a greater amount. The captain does not accept tips.
Q - Do you service Bald Head Island?
A - Yes. There is a nominal surcharge for Bald Head Island pickup/dropoff. Cruise times begin once we leave Bald Head Island.
Q - Do you offer group discounts?
A - No, but you will find a Vacation Discount Card in every "Visitors Guide" magazine which may be used with your trip. You must have the VDC with you in order to receive the discount.
